DPWH eyes completion of Zamboanga City flyover by third quarter of 2024


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways is eyeing the completion of the first-ever flyover project here and Zamboanga Peninsula by the third quarter of this year.

The project is now on its second phase of implementation consisting of the construction of the structure's approaches.  

It is expected to ease traffic for vehicles coming from this city's east coast. It is located within the intersection of Veterans Ave., Gov. Camins Ave., and Tetuan Highway in Barangay Santa Cruz.

"We are proud of what we have accomplished, " said DPWH-9 Regional Director Cayamombao Dia during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas Forum on Tuesday, May 28, referring to the Zamboanga flyover and several infrastructure projects completed by her office.

Mayor John Dalipe here described the project as a "welcome development" that is expected to solve traffic congestion of a growing and developing Zamboanga City.

The project started on September 1, 2022 after an executive order signed by Dalipe which paved the way for its implementation.
