Barangay peacekeeper gunned down in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A member of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) was shot dead in Lamitan City, Basilan last Monday, May 27.

The Lamitan City police under Police Lt. Col. Arlan Delumpines identified the victim as Mahadir Ahari, 35.

Ahari was attending a community fair in Barangay Balagtasan when an unidentified man appeared and shot the victim from behind.

The suspect escaped and the victim succumbed to bullet wounds.

Police recovered four spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.

Lawmen are pursuing the suspect.
