The Department of Health (DOH) Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) and the Pasay City government inked on Tuesday, May 27, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to make the city a Universal Health Care integration site.

The signing of MOU at the Pasay City Hall was represented by Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano for the city government, DOH-MMCHD Assistant Secretary  Roi Magpantay, and Vice- President for Regional Office-National Capital Region Dr. Bernadette Lico.

The signing was witnessed by Councilor Joey Calixto Isidro, chairperson of Committee on Health; and representatives from the City Health Office and Pasay City General Hospital.

Rubiano said the MOU aims to support the health program of DOH and give immediate assistance to residents through the Universal Health Care.

“This is where our intent to pioneer the nation-wide Universal Health Care comes in. We join hands with the Department of Health and all advocates of public health in bringing health care to our people, even before they actually need it. We envision a society whose health is well taken cared of in the most efficient possible. This, we know we can achieve with the Universal Healthcare Law,” Rubiano said.
