PRO-7 fetes top performing cops

CEBU CITY – Top-performing policemen were recognized during the traditional Monday flag ceremony of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, pinned medals on policemen who displayed stellar performances in their units.

The Medalya ng Kagalingan (Medal of Merit) was given to Police Capt. Jode Buscato Jr. and Staff Sgt. Francisco Roble Jr. of the Danao City Police Station for the successful serving of a search warrant against an illegal gunmaker in Barangay Binaliw in Danao City on January 21.

Seized from the suspect were a .45 caliber pistol and unfinished .38 revolvers.

The same award was also given to Staff Sgt. Isidro Rosaldo and Staff Sgt. Keven Gilbuena of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit for the arrest of a high-profile drug personality and confiscation of packs of suspected shabu worth P4.2 million in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.

Aberin urged the awardees to sustain their commendable performances and be an inspiration for their colleagues. He urged his men to be mentally and physically sound for them to always perform on a high level.

“In the demands and pressures of our work, we must not overlook the well-being of our utmost valuable asset, our mental health. As police officers, we need to be mentally and physically sound in fulfilling our tasks competently. Mental well-being is just as important as physical fitness to constantly attain accurate decisions and create appropriate courses of action," said Aberin.

Col. Percival Zorilla, chief of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, commended the Talisay City Police Station for its effective anti-illegal drug campaign.

On May 25, the Talisay police seized shabu worth P3.4 million and arrested a 28-year-old drug pusher listed as a high-value individual.

“I would like to commend the proactive efforts of the people of Talisay City in working together with law enforcement to combat crime. Collaboration between communities and authorities is crucial for maintaining safety and security. This kind of partnership sets a great example for other areas facing similar challenges,” said Zorilla.
