City Tourism Officer Maria Teresa Manalili said during the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival here on Friday, May 24, that they are awaiting a copy of the declaration from the NCAA.

Mayor Albee Benitez was elated by the recognition.

“We are very proud to have the chicken inasal as our cultural property,” Benitez said, adding that chicken inasal is recognized as one of the Top 50 chicken dishes in the world.

Benitez said that there are different chicken inasal recipes that would cater to the palette of every individual.

“Every chicken inasal in the city is made differently. You will not be disappointed when you come to Bacolod.”

In 2022, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved an ordinance that declared chicken inasal as an important cultural property under the Chicken Inasal Cultural Property Rights Ordinance.

The ordinance authored by Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the Committee on History, Culture, and Arts, sought to recognize and include chicken inasal in the repository of all cultural properties in the Philippines.

This year's Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival with the theme Inasal Global showcased this city’s rich culinary heritage and vibrant culture and sought to proclaim the savory chicken inasal as a world-class dish.
