Defensor eyes Brooks as Iloilo tourism ambassador


ILOILO CITY – Gov. Arthur "Toto" Defensor Jr. announced that 23-year-old Miss Eco International Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks will be Iloilo's tourism ambassador.

"We just need to have an executive order," said Defensor.

Defensor described Brooks’ appointment as timely.

He  said Brooks will have conduct a grassroots tourism campaign in the 42 towns and component city of Passi.

Brooks gained famed when she won Miss Iloilo, the pageant of the Dinagyang Festival.

She was raised by her grandmother as she literally never knew her parents – an Ilongga and her Black-American father who met in Lebanon when her mother was working as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).

Despite being bullied, Brooks became an athlete and a model.

Brooks was known for her catchphrase “Abanse Babae” that would garner her attention as a woman with brains, brawn, and beauty.
