Cockpit staff knifed dead in Kabankalan City

BACOLOD CITY â€“ A cockpit staff was stabbed dead in Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, May 26.

Police identified the victim as Gerald Billeran, 40, of Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.

Investigation said the victim was celebrating a fiesta in a carnival when a 42-year-old man arrived and stabbed the victim in the back.

Billeran was declared dead in a hospital while the suspect was arrested, Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said.

Indiape said the victim and the suspect had an altercation. The victim would allegedly laugh at the suspect if he loses a game and delays paying him if he wins.

The suspect felt that he was being deceived by the victim.

Indiape said that murder charges will be filed against the suspect.
