All wind signals lifted as 'Aghon' moves away from Luzon

The center of the eye of Typhoon “Aghon” (international name: Ewiniar) was estimated 335 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As Aghon moves away, PAGASA said no more areas are under tropical cyclone wind warnings as potential impacts from its severe winds are no longer expected.

In the 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said all gale warnings for coastal waters have been also lifted.

However, Aghon may still bring moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters of Cagayan, Isabela, northern Aurora, and the northern coastal waters of Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

PAGASA advised mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.

In the latest PAGASA bulletin, Aghon has slightly weakened as its maximum sustained winds decreased to 130 kilometers per hour (kph) from 140 kph, while gusts reached 160 kph from 170 kph.

It is expected to continue to move northeastward over the Philippine Sea until it leaves the country’s area of responsibility by Wednesday afternoon or evening, May 29.
