‘Aghon’ kills baby, 2 others in Quezon


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Typhoon “Aghon” killed three persons, including a seven-month-old baby, during its onslaught in this province on Sunday, May 26.

A 14-year-old student died after a buli tree fell on him in Purok Pagkakaisa II, Barangay Ibabang Iyam, here.

Police identified the victim as John.

John was sleeping inside his house with his family when a buli tree toppled on his house due to strong winds and rain. The victim was hit in the stomach and died on the spot.

In San Antonio, Marcelino Estolino, a 50-year-old farmer from Barangay Cabatang, Tiaong, Quezon, died when a big acacia tree fell on his nipa hut. 

A seven-month-old-baby boy drowned in the sea after a big wave hit their house at Tierra Del Monte Realty Corp. fish cage in Barangay Punta, Padre Burgos.

The baby’s remains were found in Barangay Ilayang Polo, Pagbilao.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office reported that 3,172 individuals composed of 779 families were affected by Aghon in this province.

One-hundred seventy-four houses were partially damaged and 17 were totally damaged. Forty-nine barangays were affected.
