Forty-eight individuals were rescued from a motorboat that capsized off Claveria, Masbate, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Sunday, May 26.
Motorbanca (MBCA) Oceanus Uno encountered an “unfavorable weather” and was hit by strong waves while traveling in the vicinity waters of Brgy. Penafrañcia on May 24 which caused it to overturn.
A search and rescue operation was immediately conducted by PCG personnel and authorities from the Aroroy municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO).
“Upon arrival, the SAR team rescued 48 individuals (passengers and crew) - all in good condition,” the PCG said.
The rescued individuals were turned over to the rural health unit in Aroroy for further medical check.
