President Marcos reported that the Philippines has made an impressive recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic after it recorded 5.45 million tourists entering the country in 2023, double the number of inbound tourists in 2022.

Marcos said this as he graced the inauguration of Solaire Resort North in Quezon City on Saturday, May 25.
In his speech, the President said the figure recorded in 2023 was more than double the 2.65 million visitors recorded the previous year.
“It is evident today that the Philippine tourism and hospitality industry [have] made an impressive recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
“We have slowly started to witness how hotels, restaurants, recreational amenities, and tourist spots have slowly but surely risen to the challenge of travel resurgence, welcoming 5.45 million inbound tourists in 2023,” he added.
According to Marcos, it was the government’s job to let the world know that the Philippines is open for tourism and business.
“It is truly a bold and ambitious move that we must take to make the Philippines the perfect destination for tourism, relaxation, and entertainment,” he said.
“More than the best tourist destinations here in the Philippines, it is our people that keep bringing tourists back. Our smiles, our generosity, [and] our hospitality,” he added.
Marcos likewise said that the Philippines is ready to embrace the opportunities that would be offered, as he expressed confidence that “the world is also ready to embrace us back.”
He added that the Solaire Resort North, which features first-class amenities and world-class Filipino talent, is going to further raise the country’s image on the international stage.
“With this, I am confident that the Solaire Resort North is all set to take these successes to an even higher level,” President Marcos said.
“As a result of this move, there will be more growth opportunities for our citizens while making the Philippines’ unique brand of hospitality known worldwide,” he added.
