Marcos ensures continued support for 'Aghon'-hit areas

President Marcos has assured those living in areas affected by Severe Tropical Storm Aghon that the government is ready to assist them as P1.2 million in humanitarian assistance was already released to aid those in need.

Marcos said this as "Aghon" intensified on Sunday afternoon, May 26.
In an X post early Monday morning, May 27, the President said that affected residents will receive the assistance they need.
"Asahan nating patuloy ang ating mga ahensya sa pagsuporta sa bawat komunidad at pagtiyak sa maayos na kalagayan ng ating mga mamamayan (Rest assured that our agencies will continuously support every community and ensure taht everyone is safe)," he wrote at 4:33 a.m.
According to Marcos, P1.2 million in humanitarian assistance has already been released while the government has already prepared over P3 billion in standby funds.
"Inihanda natin ang mahigit P3 bilyong halaga ng standby funds at prepositioned goods at stockpiles, upang masiguro ang mas malawak at mabilis na tulong para sa ating mga kababayang apektado ng bagyong #AghonPH (We have prepared over P3 billion in standby funds and prepositioned goods and stockpiles to make sure the wider and faster assistance to those affected by Typhoon Aghon)," he said.
On Sunday, Marcos ordered Local Government Units (LGUs), emergency services, and all relevant agencies to monitor Tropical Storm Aghon as it continued to move across the country.
He likewise urged the public to stay vigilant and prioritize everyone’s safety as he committed to prioritizing the well-being of people by ensuring the availability of food and non-food items, health services, and evacuation centers to affected communities.
“The well-being of our people is our utmost priority. I have directed local government units, emergency services, and all relevant agencies to work tirelessly in monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance.," the President said,

President Marcos urged everyone to look out for one another, especially the vulnerable ones as he assured the country will get through this challenge as one.
“Let us all look out for one another, especially the most vulnerable members of our communities. Together, we will get through this storm,” he said.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, State Weather Bureau Pagasa reported that Aghon intensified into a severe tropical storm on Sunday afternoon and raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 over the eastern portion of Quezon province.
