Health authorities have intensified the monitoring and safety measures at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals amid the threat of the entry of a new strain of Covid-19.
Ferdinand Salcedo, director of the Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), said they have already directed their airport personnel to conduct thorough screening at Points of Entry for arriving visitors originating from countries where the new variants were detected.
The KP.l and KP.2 variations are part of a newly discovered subvariants identified as "FLiRT," a novel virus that is spreading globally.
"The general public should take basic health measures such as frequent hand washing, coughing etiquette, avoiding crowded situations and getting in contact with people with flu-like symptoms," Salcedo said.
"All travelers must be reminded to complete the health questionnaire available on the -travel application," he added.
