Firefighters rescue man who ran wild inside hotel in Manila
Firefighters saved a man who allegedly set a mattress on fire and injured himself inside a hotel on Rizal Avenue in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Saturday morning, May 25.


Arson investigators identified the man as Michael John Rosario.
Members of Manila Police District-Sta. Cruz Police Station (MPD-PS-3), who were conducting police patrol in the area, reported the incident to the station base and to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) at around 10:10 a.m. after noticing smoke from the hotel.
Police immediately cordoned off the area and monitored the situation as BFP personnel arrived at the scene.
Before the incident, witnesses said that Rosario was running wild and shouting inside his room after his companion left the hotel.
Authorities rescued Rosario and gave him first aid treatment for lacerations on his belly.
He was immediately transported to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.
Meanwhile, arson investigators said they are still investigating the incident.
