Cops rescue 21 people trapped in severe flooding in Lucena City

Operatives of the Maritime Group of the Philippine National Police (PNP) rescued on Monday morning, May 26, six families who were trapped in a severe flooding brought by tropical cyclone “Aghon” in Lucena City.
Police Brig. Gen. Jonathan Cabal, director of the PNP-Maritime Group said the rescued families are composed of 21 individuals who sought assistance due to the rising floodwater in Barangay Dalahican.
“The rescued families were safely transported to the evacuation center at Dalahican Annex Elementary School,” said Cabal.
Police forces were earlier placed on alert and on standby in order to assist local disaster management officials in responding to those affected by the weather disturbance.
More than 22 areas across the country are currently under storm signals due to the heavy rains and strong winds brought by “Aghon”.
Thousands of people were affected in various areas of the country due to the heavy rains brought by “Aghon”. Authorities also reported that there are almost 5,000 people stranded in various ports actoss the country.
