BAGUIO CITY – This city has recorded 11 new Covid-19 cases, the City Health Services Office said.

The city government, through the CHSO, has requested the Department of Health to procure and supply local health centers with Covid vaccines due to these cases monitored recently.
Dr. Donnabel Panes of the CHSO Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit said these cases were mostly reinfections. Of these cases, six have recovered and five are active.
"Most of our Covid cases have mild symptoms but one is severe," Panes said.
She added most of the active cases were unvaccinated.
With no more available Covid vaccines, this city hopes that the Health department will prioritize the procurement of vaccines to cater to children below five-years-old during the pandemic who were not vaccinated as they were out of the target population.
Even globally, Panes said Covid reinfection is being reported with Omicron still the dominant variant in Baguio and in other countries.
A total of 47,491 individuals in Baguio had been infected with Covid since 2019 to present, with 928 deaths.
Vaccination against Covid started in 2021 with over 359,000 individuals in Baguio availing at least one shot representing 134 percent of the target population, over 344,000 individuals had full dose of the vaccine, and over 165,000 individuals availed themselves of booster shots.
