Testing center employee shot dead in Ilocos Sur

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A vehicle smoke emission testing center employee was shot dead in Barangay San Vicente, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur on Friday night, May 24.

Police identified the victim as Mario Jose C. Ronquillo, alias Botchoy, from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and a resident of Barangay San Vicente.

Investigation said the victim, a stencil aide of a vehicle smoke emission testing center near the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur,  was driving his tricycle at about 6:50 p.m. when unidentified gunmen onboard a motorcycle shot him with a caliber .45 pistol. 

Ronquillo’s unidentified companion alighted from the tricycle and fled.

The suspects escaped and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead due to bullet wounds.

Police recovered four empty caliber .45 shells from the crime scene.  Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
