PCG suspends sea travel in southern Quezon due to 'Aghon'

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) temporarily suspended sea voyages in the southern part of this province as the State weather bureau raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 due to tropical depression “Aghon” on Saturday, May 25.

The PCG-Southern Quezon said the suspension affected the municipalities of Calauag, Guinayangan, Lopez, Buenavista, Catanauan, Mulanay, San Narciso, San Francisco, San Andres, Tagkawayan, Gumaca, Quezon, Alabat, Perez, Plaridel, Pitogo, Macalelon, Gen. Luna, Atimonan, Unisan, Mauban, and Agdangan, the eastern portion of Romblon, and the eastern portion of Marinduque.

The suspension is line with PCG Memorandum Circular 02-23 entitled “Revised Guidelines on the Movement of Vessels during Heavy Weather” dated March 23, 2023.

The PCG-Southern Quezon added that voyages may be allowed in the main supply routes and special areas under the conditions set by NHQ-PCG MC 02-23 as verified by PCG-Southern Quezon.

All vessels were reminded to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of the tropical cyclone if deemed to be affected by the weather disturbance.

Sea voyages will resume until further notice and upon improvement of weather and sea condition, the PCG-Southern Quezon said.
