LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Ako Bicol party-list has allocated P500 million to help the Albay Electric Cooperative (Aleco) improve services in this province.
Ako Bicol Executive Director Alfredo "Pido" Garbin said that House Committee on Appropriations Chairman and Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co has funded the construction of two Aleco substations and rehabilitation of existing distribution facilities.

Garbin said that the construction of two substations will improve the Aleco's electrical grid’s ability to manage and distribute electricity, reducing overloads and power outages and will allow
alternative electricity pathways, ensuring quick rerouting in case of failure and enhancing consumer confidence in power supply stability.
He added that the upgrading of Aleco facilities will maintain consistent voltage levels and prevent low voltage issues that affect appliance and machinery performance.
"A reliable and quality power supply will lead to fewer business disruptions, increased productivity, and the potential to attract new businesses, fostering job creation and economic growth," Garbin said.
Co said that P300 million has been downloaded to the National Electrification Administration while the remaining P200 million is set for release and will be used for the completion of the rehabilitation of power lines, replacement of dilapidated reclosers, and upgrading of transformers.
"Our vision is to empower Albay by providing stable and efficient electricity supply," Co said.
Co added that the new substations are strategically planned to serve key areas in Albay, reducing overloads and enhancing the overall reliability of the transmission grid.
"We're not only providing solutions to brownouts in the province. We're also working for a better future by strengthening the economy. This will help attract new businesses, create jobs, jobs, and more jobs.”
