The team has made history as first Philippine representative to the biggest intercollegiate rocket engineering competition in the world
Pioneering Pinoy innovation, the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Rocketry Team has made history by becoming the first Philippine representative to pass the Flight Readiness Review (FRR) for the Spaceport America Cup 2024 - Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (SAC-IREC).

The AdDU Rocketry Team has been granted entry to the competition, showcasing Filipino talent in the fiercely competitive global field of aerospace engineering.
Scheduled to take place from June 17 to 22 in New Mexico, USA, the Spaceport America Cup 2024 is recognized as the largest intercollegiate rocket engineering competition globally.
The competition is anticipated to attract the brightest minds from universities worldwide, who will design, build, and launch their rockets.
This year's competition will bring together nearly 200 teams from over 20 countries, making the AdDU Rocketry Team's qualification a remarkable national achievement.
Project ‘SIBOL’
The FRR represents the culmination of months of meticulous preparation and unwavering dedication by the team. They have now received the green light to participate in the 10k Commercial Off-the-Shelf category.

The team's project, SIBOL ("growth" in Filipino), is a high-performance rocket designed to carry an 8.8-pound payload to an altitude of 10,000 feet.
The AdDU Rocketry Team is part of AdDU's broader Rocket Development Program, known as “Project Sugod” (which means "moving forward" in Filipino). The program aims to usher in a new era in Philippine aerospace engineering.
They also aim to attract sponsors in the near future to further develop their homegrown technology.
