BACOLOD CITY – A laborer was killed and three others, including his son, were injured in a confrontation in Hacienda Panaogao 2, Barangay 4, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, May 22.

Police identified the fatality as Ciceron Bautista, 55. Injured were Bautista’s son Ronald, 31; a 39-year-old suspect, and his 25-year-old relative.
Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said that Ronald, who came from a drinking session in a birthday party, went to the house of the suspect to confront him about old grudges.
A heated argument erupted between Ronald and the suspect who was having a drinking session with his relative.
The suspect took a knife and allegedly stabbed Ronald in the abdomen.
Ciceron, who followed his son, attempted to intervene, but he was allegedly stabbed by the suspect in the stomach, killing him on the spot.
Ronald saw his father and took a sugarcane cutter and allegedly hacked the suspect in the left arm.
The suspect’s relative also intervened but he was wounded in the hand by Ronald’s continued attack against the suspect.
Ronald was taken to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay while the suspect was admitted to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here.
Homicide and frustrated homicide charges were filed against the suspect on Thursday, May 23.
