Heat index in 23 areas reached 'danger' level on May 24
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the intense heat reached a "dangerous" level in 23 areas on Friday, May 24.

PAGASA reported the highest heat index of the day of 49 degrees Celsius (°C) in Aparri, Cagayan. It was followed by 48°C in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
The heat index reached 47°C in Bacnotan, La Union and Daet, Camarines Norte.
A 46°C heat index was also recorded in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Iba, Zambales; Sangley Point, Cavite; and Cuyo, Palawan; while 45°C heat index was recorded in NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; and MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, it reached 44°C in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Calayan, Cagayan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur.
Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City, and Mulanay, Quezon, both registered a heat index of 43°C.
PAGASA added that in CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Alabat, Quezon; and Coron, Palawan, it experienced a heat index of 42°C.
