CEBU CITY – A suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with the police in Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City on Thursday afternoon, May 23.

The fatality was identified as Albert Padayao, high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.
Police Lt. Col. Epream Paguyod, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said personnel of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) conducted a monitoring operation in Purok Camanchili, Barangay Candulawan due to reports that illegal drug activities in the area have become rampant again.
Paguyod said that when the DEU operatives arrived in the area, a man, who turned out to be Padayao, suddenly opened fire, triggering a shootout.
A few minutes after the exchange of gunfire, Padayao was found slumped near a river with bullet wounds.
Padayao was brought to the Cebu South Medical Center where he was declared dead.
Police said a .45 caliber pistol and packs of suspected shabu weighing 12.35 grams with a standard drug price of P83,980 were recovered from the suspect’s possession.
Paguyod added Padayao was the same person who was involved in a string of shooting incidents in previous months.
Last February 22, Padayao allegedly shot Juan Estomago Ordiniza, 63, in Sitio Cabancalan 2, Barangay Bulacao, Talisay.
The last April 14, Padayao fatally shot a Grade 12 student in Barangay Inayagan, Naga City.
