'Aghon' to make another landfall in Bicol area within next 24 hours --- PAGASA
By Sonny Daanoy
Tropical Depression Aghon is likely to make its third landfall over the Bicol Peninsula within the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Saturday, May 25.

In a 5 a.m. public briefing, PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel James E. Villamil noted that after "Aghon" made two landfalls in parts of Eastern Samar, it is currently affecting a large portion of Eastern Visayas.
"So, for the next 24 hours, we expect its continued impact on the Eastern Visayas area. After that, it will move out into the waters of the Samar Sea, where it may possibly make additional landfalls, particularly in some areas of the Bicol Peninsula," Villamil said in a mix of English and Filipino.
"So, after Eastern Visayas, the next areas that 'Aghon' will pass through are the Bicol Region," he added.
As of 4 a.m., "Aghon" has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.
Its center was located over the coastal waters of Catbalogan City, Samar, moving northwestward at 30 kph.
Signal No. 1
As of 5 a.m., areas such as the northern portion of Aurora, Polillo Islands, the southern portion of Quezon, the eastern portion of Romblon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate, including Burias and Ticao Islands, remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
Similar wind signals were hoisted over Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, the extreme northern portion of Cebu, including Camotes and Bantayan Islands, and Dinagat Islands.
This signal indicates potential impacts of winds, ranging from minimal to minor threats to life and property.
In the 2 a.m. update, PAGASA reported that "Aghon" landed over Giporlos, Eastern Samar, early Saturday morning.
