4 killed, 2 hurt as 2 vehicles collide in Cagayan

GATTARAN, Cagayan – Four persons were killed and two others were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the national highway in Barangay Lapogan here on Friday morning, May 24.

Police identified the victims as Kennedy Alversado, driver of an Isuzu Canter double cab with license plates ABB-5929, and passengers Jenet Ann Olivas, Jerome Castro, and Jimmy Olivas.

Investigation said that an Isuzu Elf with license plates NFT-780 driven by Jimmy Calimag encroached on the lane of the victims’ vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision.

The victims were taken by rescuers to a hospital where they were declared dead due to serious injuries.

Calimag and his passenger also sustained serious injuries and are recovering.

The two vehicles incurred heavy damage with still undetermined cost of repair.
