The Pasig City local government in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philippines, Inc. (RMHC) opened the city's newest facility with the goal of expanding Pasig's early childhood care and development (ECCD) capabilities and programs on May 21.

Attended by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and officials of the city government and RHPC, the turnover ceremony of the Bahay Bulilit Learning Center sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig was held at the Kataasan Covered Court in Barangay Manggahan.

During the turn over event, the city officials expressed their gratitude to RHPC for the donation of the facility as they shared the previous site and structure issues of the previous ECCD Center which includes the land where it was built is not owned by the city government, hence, the need for it to be vacated.

"Sa tulong ng Bahay Bulilit Learning Center, ang mga mag-aaral ng Manggahan Child Development Center XI ay nagkaroon ng bagong tahanan na siyang makakatulong sa paghasa ng kanilang reading at writing skills para sila ay maging handa sa pagpasok nila sa elementarya. Bukod sa istruktura, kasama rin sa idinonate ng RMHC ang mga libro, laruan, electric fan, lamesa, at upuan para sa mga mag-aaral (With the help of the Bahay Bulilit Learning Center, the learners of Manggahan Child Development Center XI has finally got a new home that will help them hone their reading and writing skills, preparing them as they enter the elementary level. Aside from the structure, RHMC also donated books, toys, electric fan, chairs, and tables for the students)," the local government unit (LGU) said.

Sotto also lauded the teachers of ECCD Centers in the city for their care, skills, and diligence in doing their responsibilities as he stressed their huge role in the education of the youth, specifically in teaching them the basic knowledge they need such as reading and writing.

"Ayon pa sa alkalde, kung marunong na magbasa at magsulat ang mga bata, susunod na rin ang pagkatuto ng mga ito sa ibang bagay. Kaya naman patuloy pang pag-iibayuhin at pagbubutihin ang ECCD sa Lungsod ng Pasig, sa pangunguna ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig, partikular ng City Social Welfare and Development Office (According to the mayor, if kids know how to read and write, then it would be much easy for them to learn other skills and knowledge. For its part, Pasig's City Social Welfare and Development Office vows to continue to improve and expand the ECCD in the city)," the LGU noted.
