Muntinlupa residents mourn, condemn killing of Buli barangay captain


Muntinlupa officials and residents mourned and condemned the killing of Barangay Buli Chairman Ronaldo “Kaok” Loresca. He was 48.

Loresca died after he was shot by two unidentified men at about 10:16 p.m. in front of Sole So Blessed Sneakers and Apparel at No. 195 Manuel L Quezon Street, Barangay Buli.

Based on the initial investigation by the police, Loresca and his companions were seated in front of the store when two male suspects on a motorcycle shot him without any apparent motive and fled towards Sucat. 

One of the suspects was wearing a Joy Ride shirt while the other one was in a black t-shirt. Loresca was taken by the barangay ambulance to the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang. 

Hospital personnel tried to revive Loresca but he eventually succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head. He was declared dead at 11:26 p.m. 

Mayor Ruffy Biazon condemned the killing of Loresca. 

“Mariin kong kinukundena ang walang saysay na pagpatay sa kapwa ko lingkod bayan sa Muntinlupa na si Kapitan Ronaldo ‘Kaok’ Loresca ng Barangay Buli (I strongly condemn the senseless killing of my fellow public servant in Muntinlupa, Captain Ronaldo ‘Kaok’ Loresca of Barangay Buli),” the mayor posted on Facebook. 

Biazon said he ordered the Muntinlupa Operations Center to review the CCTV footage and the Muntinlupa Police to immediately investigate the incident to identify the suspects. 

City Council Majority Floor Leader Raul Corro said he will file a resolution during the regular session on May 27 to condemn the killing of Loresca. 

“Mariin ko pong kinokondena ang pagpaslang kay Kapitan Ronaldo "Kaok" Loresca ng Barangay Buli at nananawagan sa Philippine National Police na tutukan ang imbestigasyon ng kaso upang agaran maresolba ito at masampahan ng kaso ang mga salarin para makamit ang katarungan hindi lamang para sa kanyang pamilya at mga kamag-anak at mga  kaibigan kundi pati na rin sa mga taga Buli at sa buong sambayanan ng Muntinlupa (I strongly condemn the killing of Captain Ronaldo ‘Kaok’ Loresca of Barangay Buli and I’m calling the Philippine National Police to focus on the investigation of the case to immediately resolve it and file charges against the suspects to achieve justice not only for the family and relatives and friends but for the residents of Buli and the whole Muntinlupa community),” Corro posted on Facebook. 

He added, “Maghahain po tayo ng isang resolusyon sa regular na session ng Sanggunian Panglungsod sa Lunes upang kondenahin ang kanyang pagpaslang (I will file a resolution during the regular session of the City Council on Monday to condemn his killing).”

Corro noted that for a long time, there has been no “political violence” in Muntinlupa.
