Filipinos felt the scorching heat pierce through our skins for the past few weeks. From sunny outdoor music festivals to sweaty, intimate shows at indoor venues, the common consensus would probably be ‘Ang init!’ However, for Lola Amour, the blazing summer months were the perfect opportunity to chill out with their Apos.

After releasing their self-titled debut album last April, the eight-piece band launched a series of activities and pop-ups to cool down fans and casual listeners inspired by their single ‘Umiinit’.

The band launched a TikTok series called the Umiinit Dares, a series of challenges created by Lola Amour to beat the summer heat. Fans were free to join the challenge on social media.

Subsequently, the band’s Umiinit Refreshment Trucks roved across Metro Manila and Pampanga throughout May. The trucks kicked off last May 5 at the Marikina Riverbanks, followed by stopovers at the Quezon City Memorial Circle and Marquee Mall, Pampanga, respectively, offering complimentary refreshments for everyone.

The band challenged their fans to a heated competition—the Umiinit Wings Challenge at the UP Town Center to cap off the month. Sponsored by Yellow Cab, fans got the chance to meet and compete against the band members in a wings speed-eating challenge. Winners took home special prizes, including the band’s Umiinit Hot Sauce, provided by Don Hulyo.

As the hot summer nights end and the Philippines welcomes the rainy season, the band embarks on another series of shows to promote their self-titled debut album, once again in partnership with Ayala Malls.

The tour kicked off last Saturday in Marquee Mall, Pampanga, and will stop over in the following cities and dates: May 26, 2024 - Abreeza Mall, Davao City; June 8, 2024 - Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City; July 6, 2024 - Ayala Malls Vermosa, Imus, Cavite; and July 20, 2024 - Fairview Terraces, Quezon City.

In between shows, the band is also set to come back to The Cozy Cove, Baguio City on June 29, 2024 after debuting in the venue’s homey stage last September.

As we usher in the rainier months, Lola Amour hopes they were able to bring some spice and warmth to their fans’ hearts with their summer activities.

Lola Amour’s self-titled debut album is out on major streaming platforms.
