Fire displaces 20 families, kills 14 pets in Sta. Mesa, Manila
Over 20 families were displaced, and around 14 cats reportedly died after being trapped in a fire that gutted three houses in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Thursday, May 23.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire started from a two-story rental house on C. De Dios Street in Sta. Mesa at around 5:39 p.m.
According to the owner, none of her boarders were at home, and only the cats were left when the incident happened.
The BFP raised the first alarm at 5:42 p.m. and immediately escalated it to the second alarm at 5:47 p.m.
Firefighters were able to put the fire under control at 7:32 p.m. and extinguished it at 8:44 p.m.
Authorities said no one was reportedly injured in the incident.
They added that the fire caused an estimated P500,000 damage to property
Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
