CIC taps EEI Corp., DMCI for CAVITEX links


Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation's (MPTC) subsidiary Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) has allied with EEI Corporation and D.M. Consunji Incorporated (DMCI) for the construction of the CAVITEX- CALAX Link and the second phase of the CAVITEX C5 Segment Link.

CIC signed a P1.79 billion construction contract with EEI Corp on May 21 to build the the 1.2 kilometer, two by two lane CAVITEX-CALAX Link or the Segment 4 Extension connecting the CAVITEX Kawit Toll Plaza to the CALAX Kawit Interchange, starting this June. It is expected to be operational by the middle of next year.

To date, the R1 Expressway (Coastal Road) to R1 Extension (Zapote to Kawit) of CAVITEX is operational.

"This collaboration will provide the vital link connecting CAVITEX and CALAX road network. CIC is committed to ensuring the best road quality for its infrastructure, adhering to the highest standards for the safety of motorists. This project will enhance economic activities in Cavite, Laguna and the National Capital Region," said MPTC Executive Officer Rogelio Singson in a statement on May 23.

On the same day, DMCI will be shouldering the construction of the two kilometer, three by three lane segment from Kaingin to RSG Subdivision, costing P3.3 billion, which is set to begin in the second half of this year and will be open to the public by 2025.

According to CIC, DMCI will build the toll plazas, conduct roadworks, and install drainage, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and sanitary systems.

Segments 3A to 1 (C5 Link Flyover from C5 Road to Merville) and Segment 3A-2 (C5 Link Flyover Extension) are open. Segment 3B and Segment 2 (R1 Interchange) are underway. Segment 2 will open to motorists by June.

"This is a milestone for the CAVITEX C5 Link as this marks the construction of the last remaining segment. Soon, motorists will benefit from the entire 7.7-kilometer expressway stretching from CAVITEX R1 to C5 Road in Taguig," remarked CIC President and General Manager Raul L. Ignacio.
