She went to the bathroom alone but did not come out. At 9:55 p.m. KST, an acquaintance found her passed out in the bathroom and reported it to the police.
At 10 p.m., the police and firefighters arrived and found Park Bo-ram and transported her to a hospital. She was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m. KST.
On May 23, the final autopsy results of Korea’s National Forensic Service were revealed.
The Namyangju Southern Police Station received the final autopsy report which stated that Park Bo-ram died from acute alcohol poisoning.
"Park Bo-ram is presumed to have died from acute alcohol poisoning," the police said, Korean media reported.
Other than acute alcohol poisoning, no other presumed cause of death was found. However, it was confirmed that Park Bo-ram was in poor health at the time of death due to diseases such as liver lesions and fatty liver.
“Alcohol poisoning is a serious — and sometimes deadly — result of drinking large amounts of alcohol in a short period of time. Drinking too much too quickly can affect breathing, heart rate, body temperature and gag reflex. In some cases, this can lead to a coma and death,” according to the Mayo Clinic website.
Park Bo-ram gained prominence when she competed on the TV show “SuperStar K2” in 2010, and debuted as a singer in 2014. She released the song “I Hope” with Huh Gak in February.
