37 areas may have ‘dangerous’ heat indices on May 24


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 37 areas including Metro Manila may experience “dangerous” heat indices on Friday, May 24.

PAGASA said Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Aparri, Cagayan; Cuyo, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; Mambusao, Capiz; and Iloilo City, Iloilo may have a heat index of 46 degrees Celsius (°C)


A heat index of 45°C may also be felt in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur while a heat index of 44°C may be experienced in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental; and Dipolog, Zamboanga Del Norte.


PAGASA also noted that Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental; and Dipolog, Zamboanga Del Norte may have heat index of 44°C.


Meanwhile, the heat index in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Casiguran, Aurora; Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte; and Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte may reach 43°C.


It added that NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; ISU Echague, Isabela; Iba, Zambales; CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Baler (Radar), Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Infanta, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Virac, Catanduanes; CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur; Siquijor, Siquijor; Catarman, Northern Samar and Cotabato City, Maguindanao may reach 42°C heat index
