Pasay LGU suspends F2F classes

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered anew the suspension of face-to-face classes (F2F) in all levels, both in public and private schools, from May 21 to 22 due to extreme heat.

Rubiano said based on their monitoring, the PAGASA-DOST forecasted that climate heat index in the city will reach up to 44 degrees Celsius this week.

She advised teachers to shift to online, modular, or any alternative learning.

The mayor said the resumption of F2F classes on Monday, May 20 was made after the PAGASA-DOST issued a forecast on Sunday, May 19, that the heat index in the city will decrease from 41 degrees Celsius.

Rubiano said that based on the PAGASA-DOST five-day heat index monitoring, the city is expected to register a heat index of 44 degrees Celsius on May 16, 17 and 19. On May 18 and 20, the heat index is expected to decreases to 43 degrees Celsius.

However, based on the new forecast, Pasay will again suffer from extreme heat of up to 44 degrees Celsius on May 21 and 22.

The mayor said the city government decided to temporarily suspend F2F classes for the safety of school children, teachers, and staff.
