Man killed in accidental shooting in Bago City


BACOLOD CITY – A 21-year-old man died after he was accidentally shot by his teenage friend in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, May 19.

Police said the victim arrived at the house of his 17-year-old friend while he and his friend were sweeping the floor.

The victim reportedly asked the minor to get the firearm of his stepfather.

However, when the minor was about to hand over the firearm to the victim, he unintentionally pulled the trigger, causing an accidental discharge of the firearm.

The victim was hit in the forehead and was brought to the South Bacolod General Hospital here.

Police said the victim died at 2:14 a.m. on Monday, May 20.

The minor was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) for proper disposition and  the firearm is now under the custody of the police.

Police continue to probe the incident.

Meanwhile, a remnant of a drug group and his cohort were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Monday, May 20.

Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said the 33-year-old subject is a high-value individual and his 20-year-old companion is a newly-identified street-level individual.

Confiscated from them were 17 grams of suspected shabu worth P115,600, the P500 marked money, three lighters, a digital weighing scale, and several non-drug items.
