Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval unveiled the city's Commemorative Stamp and Official First Day Cover in celebration of its 425th founding anniversary at the Malabon Sports Complex on Tuesday, May 21.
Sandoval, together with Post Master General Luis Carlos, Philippine Red Cross Malabon Chapter Chairman Ricky Sandoval, Philpost Area Director Olive Valderama, and other city government officials led the unveiling ceremony.
“Sa ika-425 na Anibersayo ng Pagkakatatag ng Malabon, ating alalahanin at ipagdiwang ang atint kasaysayan na humuhubog sa ating lungsod at sa bawat isa bilang mga tunay na Malabueño (On the 425th Anniversary of the Founding of Malabon, let's remember and celebrate our history that shapes our city and each other as true Malabueños),” Sandoval said.
“Ating ipagpatuloy ang pagkakapit-bisig para sa patuloy na progreso at huwag susuko sa anumang hamon ng buhay upang maabot ang ating mga pangarap. Hindi tayo titigil sa pagbibigay ng mahalagang serbisyo para sa pagbabago ng antas ng ating buhay (Let's continue to join hands for continuous progress and do not give up on any challenge of life to reach our dreams. We will not stop providing important services for changing the level of our lives),” she added.
The commemorative stamps were designed by Vincent de Leon, supported by PhilPost creative artist Antonio Jayme.
The stamp shows the 409-year-old San Bartolome Church, the Pancit Malabon, and the Tambobong Festival. It also shows the La Princesa Tabacalera which stood for 151 years at Hulong Duhat, Malabon City, and the city government Seal, it also included the Philpost official logo, “Bangon Pilipinas”, and the Manila Central Post Building.
The mayor also signed the commemorative stamp's Official First Day Cover with canceller that has her photo as the first-ever lady mayor of the city, and the official logo of the 425th Tambobong Festival.
