Garcia said the suspension will pave the way for the review of the procurement orders that were made before Mayor Michael Rama’s six-month preventive suspension was enforced.
The review is needed to check all procurements are aboveboard.
One of the procurement orders that caught the attention of Garcia was the P21.9-million budget that was set aside for the rentals of toilet and bath portalets.
“We will check if we really have to rent or just purchase because for sure, we will have more big events in the future,” said Garcia.
Garcia also noted the P135 million that was allocated for the installment of the light-emitting diode (LED) frame and another P47 million for the extension of the grandstand at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
He said the concerned offices of the City Hall and contractors will be asked to attend a meeting to review all the procurement orders.
Garcia assured that all procurement orders will push through if found out that all are aboveboard.
The acting mayor is also confident that the suspension of all procurement orders will not affect this city’s preparation for the Palarong Pambansa.
Garcia also inspected the renovation of the track and oval of CCSC.
He was dismayed that the rubberized track has yet to be installed with the Palarong Pambansa just less than 50 days away.
