Man dies, wife hurt in motorcycle-truck collision

CEBU CITY â€“ A 63-year-old man died and his wife was injured in a vehicular accident in the City of Naga, southern Cebu.

The accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 19.

The fatality was identified as Ananias Alimento. His 58-year-old wife Alexandria survived the accident but sustained injuries in different parts of her body.

Police said the couple met the accident while aboard a motorcycle driven by Ananias on their way to Naga.

The accident happened when a truck loaded with steel bars driven by Denmil Lumayno tried to overtake another vehicle and encroached the opposite lane.

Police said that while the truck was in the opposite lane, the driver lost control of the wheel. The truck fell on its side and hit the couple.

The impact threw the couple off the motorcycle. The couple was rushed to the hospital where the husband was declared dead.

The truck driver was taken to the police station after the accident.
