College of St. Benilde overcame an early Letran resistance before eventually dominating the match with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 victory on Sunday, May 19, that put the former on the cusp of ruling NCAA Season 99 women’s volleyball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena and completing a third straight title sweep.

The troika of Michelle Gamit, Gayle Pascual and Zamantha Nolasco took care of business and dropped 14, 14 and 12 points, respectively, to hand the Lady Blazers a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three duel and a chance at wrapping up a three-peat sweep feat.

If it ends up winning it, it will complete its third straight 11-game championship sweep while it extended its spectacular streak to 39 straight triumphs that started in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
“Basta kami me isa pa game para magtrabaho pa ulet dahil pwede matalo din, pwede magka problema so kailangan me ayusin pa,” said CSB coach Jerry Yee, who also thanked generous patron Strong Group Athletics’ Frank Lao.
In the men’s section early, University of Perpetual Help survived Emilio Aguinaldo College, 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19, to move on the verge of extending its dynastic reign to another season.
Reigning MVP Louie Ramirez was at his electric self again as he fired 23 points while Jefferson Marapoc added 20 hits as they willed the Altas to one game away from claiming a four-peat crown and ninth in the last 12 seasons.
