Technical probllems caused some delay in flights at NAIA on Monday -- CAAP
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) disclosed on Monday, May 20, 2024, that its Air Traffic Management Center encountered technical problems with its software at around 11:27 a.m.
To ensure the safety of the flying public, CAAP decided to be conservative and controlled flight operations by providing longer separation between departing flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Traffic coming in and out of Manila was affected as an air traffic management contingency procedure was put in place to ensure the safety of passengers.
Only departing flights experienced delays with the longer intervals. At NAIA Terminal 1, flights of Eva Air, Korean Air, and Asiana were delayed for almost two hours.
As of posting, MIAA is still collecting all the relevant data on aircraft delay due to this technical problem.
