Arwind Santos insisted that he is not done playing basketball, even mulling the possibility of returning back to action next year as he is still recovering from injury.

“That doesn’t mean hindi na ako maglalaro, kasi jersey lang naman ang na-retire. Para sa akin yung passion ko, yung pagmamahal ko sa basketball nandiyan pa rin,” said Santos following his jersey retirement ceremony on Wednesday, May 1, during the halftime of San Miguel’s game against Blackwater.

Santos doesn’t know where he would be playing but he shared he’s targeting a comeback next year.

Aside from SMB, Santos also played for NorthPort in the PBA and also had a brief stint with the Pampanga Giant Lanterns.

“Ang plano ko bumalik ako next year para maglaro kasi puro ako family time lang muna, business muna, then magshare ng kaunting knowledge sa basketball sa mga kabataan natin ngayon. Yung basketball clinic gusto ko rin na ishare sa kanila ang aking mga kaalaman,” added the 42-year-old player.

Santos was even supposed to play for SMB this conference – a homecoming of sorts as part of his jersey retirement plan but was eventually scrapped due to complications.

“Okay nga sana dapat. Kaya lang kumplikado, magtatagal pa pati sya kasi diba yung rights ko nasa NorthPort pa rin,” said Santos adding that he was being planned to play for at least a month for the Beermen before his jersey gets retired.

“Willing sila dapat nga maglalaro pa ako isang buwan sa kanila pero ganun nga yung nangyari pero tinanggap ko na lang sa loob ko ng maluwag. Masaya na ako at enough na sa akin maretire yung jersey,” he added.
