QC LGU issues traffic advisory for flyover retrofitting

The Quezon City government issued a traffic advisory on Thursday, May 2, for the retrofitting of the southbound lane of the Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) - Kamuning Flyover.

Temporary closure of some sections of the Southbound lane started yesterday, May 1, and will last for six months, the city government said.

The repair aims to strengthen the flyover for any disaster such as earthquakes. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) started the retrofitting last April 25.

The city government saw the effect of the road closure in some parts of the southbound lane during rush hour traffic on May 2.

The local government advised motorists to take the following alternative routes:

All vehicles shall take a right turn to West Avenue then turn right to Quezon Avenue and take a U-turn near Sct. Magbanua, turn right on Timog Avenue and exit to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue.

Motorists coming from Quezon Avenue shall turn right turn to Panay Avenue then left to Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, turn left to Timog Avenue and right turn to EDSA Service Road.

All vehicles from Quezon Avenue shall also take a right turn to Mother Ignacia Avenue or Panay Avenue then left turn to Sgt. Esguerra Avenue straight to 11th Jamboree, turn left to Kamuning Road and turn right to EDSA Service Road.

Motorists shall also take the right turn to Eugenio Lopez Jr. Drive or Scout Borromeo St, then turn left to Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, turn left to Timog Avenue and right turn to EDSA Service Road.

Vehicles shall also take a right turn to Eugenio Lopez Jr. Drive or Scout Borromeo St, then left turn to Samar Avenue, turn left to Timog Avenue and right turn to EDSA Service Road.

Meanwhile, all vehicles coming from the east side of EDSA shall take a left turn to V. Luna Avenue then turn right at Maharlika St., going straight to K-H St., and Cambridge St., then turn right at New York st., left turn at Imperial St., take Cross Aurora Boulevard to Gen. Aguinaldo Avenue then turns right at P. Tuazon exit to EDSA or Cross P. Tuazon to 8th Avenue and turn right to Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue and exit to EDSA.

All vehicles from Kalayaan Avenue shall turn left on Matino St., then straight towards Anonas exit or Anonas St., and turn right on Aurora Boulevard, left turn on 20th Avenue to Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue and right turn to Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue and exit to EDSA.

The city government also advised motorists that motorcycles will temporarily be prohibited from passing through the service road of Kamuning Flyover and were advised to take alternative routes.
