PAGASA reports fewer areas with 'dangerous' heat index on May 2
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded “dangerous” heat indices in 23 areas on Thursday, May 2, which was lesser than the areas included on the list of heat indices with danger levels in the previous records.

PAGASA had previously recorded dangerous heat indices in more than 30 areas based on the computed five-day heat index.
However, although decreased in several areas, the heat indices being recorded were still “threatening,” as heat cramps and heat exhaustion are still likely to be experienced, while heat stroke is probable due to prolonged heat exposure.
PAGASA warned the public to always stay hydrated and schedule heavy-duty activities in the afternoon when the temperature is lower.
It also advised the public in areas with dangerous heat indices ranging from 42°C to 51°C to refrain from going out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On May 2, PAGASA recorded a heat index of 48°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and Aparri, Cagayan.
