FiberXers head coach Aldin Ayo said that the team is putting the tumultuous season behind as they remain brimming with hopes to improve for the brand new season.

For one, Converge got some encouraging signs after managing to take down a playoff-seeking TNT, 107-103, to gracefully exit a season marked by losing streaks with a 2-10 record.

If there’s anything that can also provide silver lining to Converge’s season, it should be the emergence of Justin Arana and Alec Stockton as the team’s top guns and the breakout conference for sweet-shooting big man Bryan Santos.

Even in their last game, guys like Pat Maagdenberg, Aljun Melecio, King Caralipio and Schonny Winston all contributed in the upset win – a performance that is enough to excite Ayo for the future.

On top of that, Converge is also the frontrunner to get the first overall pick of the Season 49 PBA rookie draft – an opportunity to add another possible cornerstone for the franchise.

“Boss Jacob (Lao) is building this team piece by piece. We already have our first group and right now, the second group already played well. We’re excited for the draft,” said Ayo.

Even with the losing season, Ayo reiterated that the team is being patient with their players but is hopeful that they can finally gain their footing in the league by next season.

“We’ve been very patient because we’re competing against teams na ilang taon na sila dito. Nakaikot na sila, nakakapili na sila ng players na para sa kanila eh. They have their own way  of getting the players that they want and they need,” said Ayo

“For us, pasensyoso kami doon, we’re waiting for these young players to improve and mature.  Right now what we need is time hopefully, we’re going to have a long break, long off season, mag improve yung mga players namin at swertehin kami sa draft,” he added.

Ayo said he’s going to meet with the staff and the management regarding the pick once they get the list of possible draft applicants for next season. The goal of course, according to Ayo, is to get someone who can boost an already promising core.

“Di pa namin alam kung sino mga sasali, hopefully makuha namin yung mga kailangan namin,” he added.
