Village chair killed in motorcycle-SUV crash

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A barangay chairman was killed in a motorcycle accident on the national highway in Barangay Labut Sur, Santa, Ilocos Sur on Saturday morning, May 18.

Police identified the victim as Jerome Jesus de Peralta Bueno IV, 40, chairman of Barangay Rizal, Santa.

Surveillance footage showed the victim’s northbound Kawasaki motorcycle accidentally crashing into a southbound Mitsubishi Montero Sports Utility Vehicle driven by a police officer, Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS) Adelio dela Guardia, 49, of Barangay Casantaan, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

Bueno died on the spot due to serious injuries.

The people of Santa mourned the death of Bueno who they described as a humble and performing barangay official.

In a Facebook post, the victim’s family said they will not file any case against Dela Guardia as the incident was an unfortunate accident.
