Treñas cited the ICPO led by Police Col. Joeresty Coronica for apprehending 23 suspected drug pushers and recovering 793 grams of shabu worth P5.39 million in 18 operations from May 1 to 15.
These operations were able to stop the distribution of shabu estimated to have a street value of more than P15.8 million.
“I am extremely pleased and more than satisfied with their accomplishments,” said Treñas in a statement.
Coronica had earlier said that the drug scenario here is not alarming as this city is only a transshipment point.
He said that the seizure of shabu in the regional capital of Western Visayas is meant to curtail drug supply to other parts of the region.
Treñas also lauded the ICPO for its campaign against illegal firearms and explosives in which 21 persons were arrested in eight operations.
The ICPO is implementing various city ordinances. In the first half of this month, 594 violators were fined and 7,306 individuals were warned.
