No need for loyalty check – Wanky

BACOLOD CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 (Western Visayas) chief, said there is no need to conduct a loyalty check among police personnel amid reports on an alleged destabilization plot against the government of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Wanky said the police force in the region is loyal to the Constitution. “There’s no need for it (loyalty check). I know the organization is very professional,” he said.

He told the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) during a visit to not entertain any talks about it.

“Let us remain professional and we should be contented,” Wanky said and urged Western Visayas policemen to always respect and protect the Constitution.

“I know we are all in a high morale state, and our government is fine,” he said.

Marcos said that “we will not allow agents within the country to destabilize our government and create division within our nation.”

“So, I urge all of you to continue to (demonstrate) your loyalty, patriotism, and service to your country. And let that love of country remain as your compass in your duty to our country and to our people,” he added.

A former senator has claimed that high-ranking police officers were recruiting personnel to join the ouster plot.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) had earlier denied any brewing destabilization plot among its ranks and stressed that this kind of scheme would not escape the validation efforts of their intelligence units.

The President said that he does not need to conduct a loyalty check among their ranks as he expressed his continued trust and confidence in the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
