Medical mission serves 1,000 in remote town in Masbate

THE Taranganan Caravan of the Ako Bicol party-list provided free healthcare services for residents of San Jacinto, Ticao, Island, Masbate on Friday, May 17. (Nino N. Luces)

The Philippine Coast Guard-Bicol and Philippine Navy conducted dental services and doctors from Tanchuling Hospital in Legazpi City, Albay provided medical checkup to infants and senior citizens.

People received free haircut from the Philippine Army and free body massage by the Evegate Technical Development Training Academy Inc.

Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon said that patients received laboratory examinations and free medicines and Persons with Disabilities were provided free wheelchairs.

San Jacinto Mayor Francisco Altarejos thanked Ako Bicol, government agencies, private companies, and
individuals for the medical mission.

House Committee on Appropriations chairman Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co assured the Tarabangan Caravan continues to reach out to the people in the Bicol region through medical missions and job fairs.

People of San Jacinto rely on fishing and agriculture as their livelihood. It takes at least two hours by boat to reach Masbate City and the town of Bulan in Sorsogon where hospitals and laboratories are located.
