The Bureau of Customs (BOC) participated in the 6th Global Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Conference, which brought together customs administrations and stakeholders from around the world.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio led the Philippine delegation at the conference, which included Vener S. Baquiran, Yasmin O. Mapa, Wally Ann D. Yumul, and Denise A. Asantor.
The conference held in Shenzhen, China has a theme “Harnessing the Power of AEO Programmes for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Trade.”
The BOC delivered a presentation on “AEO Programmes in a Post-Pandemic World: Adapting to Change, Building Resilience, and Expanding Opportunities,” highlighting the agency’s commitment to meeting global standards.
During the event, discussions focused on data analytics, emerging technologies for enhanced risk management, the role of the AEO Programme in e-commerce, expanding AEO programmes to Free Zones, and empowering women through the AEO Programme.
Delegates also engaged in productive conversations aimed at promoting international cooperation in trade facilitation.
WCO Secretary General Ian Saunders underscored the value of AEOs, highlighting the synergy between Customs authorities and the private sector, which enhances collaboration and trade efficiency.
He noted that AEOs transcend operational benefits, aspiring to broader, impactful pursuits.
Under Rubio's leadership, the BOC is committed to meeting international standards and achieving world-class customs administration.
