70-year-old Rhonda Felizmeña on joining Mutya ng Taguig: Never too late to chase your dreams

Mutya ng Taguig 2024 candidate Rhonda Felizmeña, a 70-year-old grandmother from Barangay Pitogo, said she joined the beauty pageant with the mindset that it’s never too late to chase dreams.

She is the oldest candidate among the 37 bets (up from 35) who will compete in the Mutya ng Taguig 2024.

Since she was announced as one of this year’s bets, Felizmeña has garnered attention on social media.

Felizmeña is hoping that her candidacy will inspire others to fulfill their dreams despite their age.

“I joined Mutya ng Taguig 2024 as I want to serve as an inspiration to everyone that no matter how old you are, it's never too late to chase for your dreams, never too late to represent yourself and the gift of your existence to the world, and never too late to do the things that make your heart happy,” she posted on Facebook.

For her, beauty is in a person’s heart.

“I joined Mutya ng Taguig 2024 for I believe that beauty is not in the face and that beauty is a light in the heart. I am grateful for every precious moment life offers me and I want people to see the beauty in my 70 years of life experience and I want them to also feel grateful for theirs,” she added.

Felizmeña previously told Manila Bulletin that she has two children and nine grandchildren.

The Taguig City government eased requirements for this year’s Mutya ng Taguig 2024 including removing the maximum age limit for candidates and marital or parental status.
