31 areas may experience ‘dangerous’ heat indices on May 19


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 31 areas may still experience a heat index that is considered “dangerous” on Sunday, May 18.

PAGASA said the heat index in Dagupan City, Pangasinan may reach 46°C and may reach 45°C in Roxas City, Capiz.

Meanwhile, Bacnotan, La Union; Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catbalogan, Samar; Dipolog, Zamboanga Del Norte; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur may experience a 44°C heat index.

A 43°C heat index may also experience in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Pasay City, Metro Manila; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Iba, Zambales; Casiguran, Aurora; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; and Catarman, Northern Samar.

PAGASA added that MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City; Alabat, Quezon; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Masbate City, Masbate; and Juban, Sorsogon may have a heat index of 42°C.
